Son Print
Son was the second painting from the Sons & Daughters series, which depicted someone dear to me. Son shows the girl holding her head mid bow, mid rise, and mid strain. My brother is a father of two and I’ve been able to witness the weight of fatherhood on him as well. His love for his children might match the work it takes to raise them, even with a loving wife and support system. I wanted to carve a hole in his heart where the plants were growing to show that strain and love equally. I chose teals and blues to portray the coldness of the night, a time where my brother & sister in law are often up for the kids.
